1. Acceptance
By accessing or using FORGE CODEX you agree to these terms in full. If you do not agree, do not use this service. These terms apply to all visitors and users without exception.
2. No Warranty — No Liability
FORGE CODEX is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Bergestig (the operator of FORGE CODEX) shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind arising from your use of — or inability to use — this service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
This includes, without limitation: errors or omissions in AI-generated answers, incorrect rules interpretations, decisions made in gameplay based on information from FORGE CODEX, downtime or unavailability of the service, or any third-party conduct.
AI answers are limited. Generating them costs money, and FORGE CODEX runs on a capped daily allowance from Google. The site therefore limits how many AI answers it produces — both per visitor and in total each day — and how long a single question may be. You may be asked to wait a moment, or told the daily budget is spent; this is expected behaviour, not a fault. The rules reference, the chat's built-in answers and the Character Builder keep working either way — only AI-generated replies pause. The exact limits are not published and may change at any time.
3. Accuracy & Rules Version Disclaimer
FORGE CODEX uses Gemini AI (by Google) to generate answers. AI responses may be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date. Always verify rules with the official MCDM Draw Steel books. FORGE CODEX accepts no responsibility for game outcomes, disputes, or decisions based on AI-generated content.
This applies to all content on FORGE CODEX — including the rules reference, the chat's built-in answers, and the Character Builder's data, options, and calculated values. Any of it may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information, and FORGE CODEX cannot be held responsible for such errors. The official MCDM Draw Steel books are always the authoritative source — where FORGE CODEX and the official books differ, the books are right.
Rules updates. MCDM may publish updates and errata to Draw Steel at any time. FORGE CODEX does not promise to reflect every update, and is under no obligation to do so. Rule sets on this site are updated only when the operator considers an update necessary, and the site may therefore lag behind the latest official printing at any given time. The currently reflected printing is stated in section 7.
4. Your Data & Privacy
FORGE CODEX does not collect or store personal data. No account is required. Everything the site saves stays on your own device, in your browser's localStorage, and never leaves it: your cookie consent choice, your display preferences (such as colour-blind mode and the forge glow), anything you create in the site's tools — characters and encounters, including any names and notes you type into them — and a small flag that remembers a cosmetic unlock.
Cloudflare server logs. This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like all web servers, Cloudflare may automatically log standard request data (IP address, timestamp, browser type) as part of normal infrastructure operation. This is handled by Cloudflare under their own Privacy Policy.
Your questions are sent to Google. When FORGE CODEX uses AI to answer a question, your query is transmitted to Google's Gemini API for processing. This is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Do not include personal or sensitive information in your questions.
Voice input is optional. The microphone button uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. In most browsers — Chrome and Edge included — the audio is sent to the browser vendor's servers (Google's, for Chrome) to be transcribed, and is handled under their privacy policy, not ours. FORGE CODEX never records, stores or receives your audio; we only see the text your browser returns. If you would rather not use it, simply type instead — the button is entirely optional.
Character Builder. Character files you import are read and validated entirely in your browser and are never uploaded. Characters you create in the Character Builder are stored only in your browser's localStorage on your own device — they are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any server. Exported character files and filled PDF character sheets are generated entirely in your browser. Clearing your browser data for this site permanently deletes your saved characters, so use Export if you want a backup. When you fill an official character sheet PDF, you supply your own copy of the file; it is processed locally and never leaves your device.
As of today, FORGE CODEX has no user accounts and stores no user data on any server. If future features change this (for example user accounts or shared online campaigns), these terms and this privacy policy will be updated before such features launch, and continued use will remain subject to section 8.
5. Cookies & Local Storage
FORGE CODEX does not set any tracking cookies. Everything the site keeps — your consent choice, your display preferences, anything you create in its tools, and a small interface flag — is saved in your browser's localStorage. This never leaves your device.
Any cookies set by third-party services are governed by their own privacy policies and are outside FORGE CODEX's control. You can clear all of it at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage for this site.
6. Third-Party Services
FORGE CODEX integrates the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms and privacy policies:
Gemini API (by Google) — AI answer generation. Your questions are sent to Google's servers for processing. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy. FORGE CODEX is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
bunny.net Fonts — Privacy-friendly font delivery (GDPR-compliant, no tracking), loaded on page load.
Your browser's speech recognition — Only if you press the microphone button. Most browsers send the audio to their own servers (Google's, in Chrome) for transcription, under their privacy policy. FORGE CODEX receives only the resulting text.
Cloudflare Pages — Website hosting. Standard server logs (IP, timestamp) may be kept by Cloudflare under their Privacy Policy.
PayPal — Optional donation link. Clicking it takes you to PayPal's own website.
FORGE CODEX is not responsible for the practices or content of any third-party service.
Separately from the Draw Steel material described above, FORGE CODEX itself — its source code, visual design and branding, the FORGE CODEX name and emblem, its original written text, and the particular way its features are designed and put together — is the work of its operator and is not licensed for reuse. All rights are reserved.
You are welcome to use this site freely for your own games. You may not, without written permission:
copy, mirror, republish or redistribute the site or any substantial part of it;
reuse its code, design, layout or data files in another product or service, whether free or paid;
scrape, bulk-download or systematically extract its content or data files;
present the site, or a derivative of it, as your own work;
remove or alter the attribution and legal notices.
To be clear about what this does not cover: the Draw Steel rules, mechanics and terminology belong to MCDM Productions and are used here under the DRAW STEEL Creator License. This section claims no ownership over them, and nothing here prevents anyone from independently creating their own Draw Steel tools under that same license.
9. Acceptable Use
Please don't abuse the service. In particular: no automated scraping or bulk requests; no attempts to overload, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the site or its APIs; no using it to generate content that is unlawful or harmful; and no reselling access to it. FORGE CODEX may block or restrict access to anyone who does. Access may be withdrawn at any time, for any reason.
10. Changes to These Terms
These terms may be updated at any time without prior notice. Continued use of FORGE CODEX after any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. It is your responsibility to review these terms periodically.
